My philosophy of technology is for it to be simple and accessible. If its too complicated to do, it won't stick. And if its too hard to access or manipulate it won't get used properly.
I've learnt many new things in this course and in part 1. The three things that stick out the most are:
- RESOURCES RESOURCES RESOURCES!!! I've gained so many new site possibilities and have already integrated some of them into the classroom. I look forward to being able to use more in the future.
- Integration possibilities - there are so many ways to integrate technology and it can serve so many different uses. Use it as a centre, as research, writing, media, comics etc.
- Assistive Technology - LOVE all the different possibilities for students with special needs. Technology is accessible for everyone and anyone.
I help out a lot in my school, but I could do more to be a better leader of technology. Firstly, I think I need to let the school know that I am available to help if they need it. I think certain teachers know of my abilities, but not all. In addition, I want to use the calendar I created in learning experience 3 and actually put it to use with the staff and offer lunch time PD sessions to staff in order to make them aware of all the technology possibilities. Finally, I think in order to make myself a better leader of technology, I need to make sure I keep myself in the technology loop and keep up with all the latest trends.
With the school year winding down, there is a lot to think about for September and how to start a year off fresh, and keep technology going throughout the entire school year. Where to use one program and when its appropriate to introduce certain programs.
